Chapter 5: vmPRO Data Recovery
Recovering Virtual Machines
Quantum vmPRO User’s Guide 160
Considerations
SelectingVMstoRecover
From the wizard, you can easily select to recover VMs backed up with SmartMotion™. To recover VMs
backed up with a third-party application, you need to create a staging area from which the
vmPRO appliance can access the VM. See Recovering VMs Backed Up with a Third-Party Application.
RecoveringOneorMultipleVMs
You can recover either one or multiple VMs at a time. Whichever option you choose, you need to define
the backup date from which to recover the data, and a configuration to use in restoring the VMs and
associated disks and files.
ViewingRecoveryStatus
Both during and after the recovery process, you can use the Tasks console to view the progress of the
recovery. See Navigating the vmPRO Tasks Console.
Note:If you are recovering a VM with both Active Directory (AD) and VSS enabled, the VSS
restore process reboots the VM twice. These reboots can take several minutes. During this time, we
recommend that you do not attempt to use the VM.
