appliance. When a DXi V-Series appliance is managed by a vmPRO appliance, disable the DXi V-
Series appliance from being exported. If you want to back up your DXi V-Series appliance, replicate it to
another DXi appliance.
NASTargets
If your NAS target is powered down or in a disconnected state, the vmPRO GUI times out. If you see
messages or behavior to this effect, check the status of your NAS target. Proceed with a backup when
the NAS target is behaving correctly.

Manually Activating a SmartMotion Backup
If you need to manually activate a SmartMotion™ backup, use the RunSmartMotionBackup dialog box.
After initiating the backup, you can view the backup's progress and details from the Backup tab on the Task
console. From this tab, you can also stop a SmartMotion backup. See Navigating the vmPRO Tasks
Console.

1. From the SmartMotionBackup menu, select Backup to display the RunSmartMotionBackup
dialog box.
